IOE conducted a digital workshop on “Staying on Track with Agenda 2030: Strengthening Collective Action to Address COVID-19 Impacts and Enhancing Cooperation between UN Resident Coordinators (RC), Employer and Business Organisations and their company members” on 20 May 2020.
Followed by the Introductory remarks and setting the scene by Mr Roberto Suarez, IOE Secretary-General and Ms Andrea Ostheimer de Sosa, Executive Director New York Office, Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Foundation, United Nations Resident Coordinators from Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Maldives and Serbia with Employers’ federations representatives from Trinidad and Tobago, Maldives and Serbia spoke as panelists.

Mr. Janah represented Maldives as the National Federation of Maldivian Employers’ President and spoke on how the federation can collaborate with IOE and UN Maldives. The following suggestions were highlighted in his presentation:
1. Collaborate together to run awareness campaigns on navigating in the new norm especially prioritizing Occupational Health and Safety;
2. Train and Elevate Skills, to train more Maldivians for when the industries recommence;
3. Management of Labour, especially migrant workers and establish a better system; and
4. Establish tripartite dialogue, which is the most critical matter now.
